If you're a Pokémon fangame aficionado, then you'll know all about Pokémon Iritum. Chapter 1 released back in 2024, and now BloodyNeonz is back with the second Chapter which is available to play now, with Pokémon all the way up to the current Gen 9 to catch and lots of new features, including a system where choices affect how the game plays out.
If you're not aware of Pokémon Iritum, then don't worry. It's not a mainline Pokémon game that you've missed, but a fangame made using Pokémon Essentials. It has a bit of a darker plotline than the other games you might have played too, with God splitting himself to create Dalgia and Palkia, and legendary Pokèmon making up other fragments of God. It's all a little deep, and I'll let you dive into the who, where, and why as you journey through the land of Hessia. The important thing I want to convey is that there's depth to the storyline, which in turn will make for a much more immersive gaming experience.
Then there's the mystery of the Zeta Pokémon to uncover too, and the plot dedicated to them within the main storyline, all made harder by a tyrannical cult leader seeking to control Arceus' power to bring about the end of the world. Nothing's ever easy!
So, a little darker than just beating Gary at Indigo Plateau then, huh?
There's a brand new custom soundtrack made for this chapter, designed to make your trip into every part of Hessia more enjoyable. Players can earn rewards via a new Quest system which will give them the chance to catch rarer Pokémon, including Mega Evolutions and brand new monsters never seen before.
And if you're looking for a challenge, then tackling 18 gym leaders should give you a run for your money! With cool features like a nature changer NPC without having to mess around with GameShark codes, it's a meaty fangame with lots to uncover. In terms of ambition, I would put it on a par with Pokémon Unbound, but I'll have to put some serious hours into it before I can comment on whether it can hold its own alongside it.
