Back in 2023 when we reviewed the first Pokémon Infinite Fusion game, it was taking off on social media. I mean, the idea of fusing two Pokémon together to create a Blastizard or a Dourario alongside all other manner of strange creations makes you feel like you've jumped straight into the ranks of Team Rocket and started inventing. It was a new concept and one that I really liked - everyone loves a bit of evil science, right?
We thought the first game was fun, but it could have given us more. Well, three years later, I've just watched the Early Access Trailer for Pokémon Infinite Fusion 2, and the devs have returned to bring us the ultimate fusion experience.
As you can see from the title above, we've left Kanto and Johto behind and are focusing on Hoenn in the new game. There aren't any plans to add an extra area to this release either - you'll just be exploring Hoenn, but with over 70 new Pokémon and 572 to collect in total, I think we'll have our work cut out for us without travelling to other regions.
And yes, everything can fuse with everything, meaning that there's a whopping 327,759 possible fusions of monsters that you can make and battle with. How wild is that!

As the game is a free, not-for-profit release, the devs are releasing it in different releases so that we can get our hands on it as they build it. The first release will allow us to play up to Gym 2, with release two going up to Gym 6. Release 3 will take us all the way up to the league, and the final release will include the postgame. Each release acts as an update, so you won't lose your current progress.
Infinite Fusion 2 gives you a chance to experience Hoenn in a brand new light, with both new and familiar locations to explore. Wild Pokémon can be spotted in the overworld as you wander around, and they all have specific behaviours that you'll discover as you interact with them.

Infinite Fusion 2 has a dynamic weather system that changes as the game goes on. You'll meet different Pokémon depending on whether it's sunny, windy, or rainy etc, so make sure to explore previous areas thoroughly when the weather changes!
If you played the original Pokémon Infinite Fusion, then you'll be pleased to know that you will eventually be able to pull your original team in from your original save file. So, if you've got a great set of fused Pokémon that you just don't want to battle without, then you'll be able to use the same team to carve a path to victory.

The game will also feature Pokémon Trainer sprite customisation too. I mean, you can't have all of those fusions and no variations on your own character now, can you?
Part 1 of Pokémon Infinite Fusion 2: Hoenn is set to release on June 12th, 2026, with the release dates for the other parts still to be determined. At least it will give us a chance to see how different the sequel is and to get a feel of whether the devs have upped the stakes a little. Hopefully, it will be more than just a 'fun alternative' and pack a punch when it comes to the storyline. Rest assured, we'll let you know our thoughts soon!
Head to the official Discord channel on June 12th to get your hands on Part 1!
