Can you imagine if Hollow Knight had dropped bacon on the NES/Famicom? Team Cherry would be a household name along with Game Freak and Rare, although to be fair to them, they've done pretty well for themselves as it is.

Still, I love playing demastered and reimagined versions of modern titles for systems that they would never have released on, and I know you guys love it when you can open retro titles in your browser so you can play them at work without the boss knowing.

This Silksong NES demake comes from Nekodot and is a submission to Demake Jam 2026 on Itch.io. It doesn't incorporate the full game but concentrates on Moss Grotto, the first area of the game. There are several enemies from the game to take down using most of the movesets Hornet starts out with in the original, and a showdown boss battle with Moss Mother.

The controls are simple enough to get to grips with; arrow keys to move, jump with Z, attack with X, and bind with C. You won't have any problems remembering that, but as its playable in browser, all the controls are listed below in case you do.

Head to Itch.io to check it out!
