Numbskull To Release Formula Retro Racing: World Tour Special Edition

Formula Retro Racing

Formula Retro Racing: World Tour Special Edition physical formats are set to release on the Playstation 4, Playstation 5, and Nintendo Switch.

This exciting release is all thanks to the new partnership with Numskull, who previously brought us physical editions of games like Harvest Moon: The Winds of Anthos and Akka Arrh.

Let’s take a look at the latest retro inspired title coming in collectible physical formats later this year.

Formula Retro Racing

Formula Retro Racing is an arcade style racing game that originally released in May of 2020.

The game was created by Repixel8, who also brought us futuristic the racers Gravity Chase and Velocity G, and the upcoming 2d fighter Clash of the Metal.

Clearly they have a strong grip on retro inspired arcade titles. Which is something right up our alley.

Digital editions of Formula Retro Racing were previously available for the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Playstation 4/5, and PC via Steam.

The awesome 90s inspired arcade aesthetics are tastefully blended with the benefits of modern game engines.

These benefits include smoother frame rates, high definition graphics, and better car handling and physics.

But none of that charming chunkiness of a retro title is lost. They keep that low polygon aesthetic.

And the electric guitar heavy soundtrack perfectly sets the mood and puts you right back in your local arcade with the smell of pizza in the air.

Formula Retro Racing

One of my favorite features are the destructible cars and crash physics. Watching your car explode into a bunch of low polygon pieces is just pure comedy.

And something that we always love to see in our retro inspired game titles, Formula Retro Racing has a 4-player split-screen mode for couch party game play.

World Tour Special Edition

Formula Retro Racing

What is unique to the new World Tour Special Edition are 6 awesome new tracks, bringing the total to 24 tracks to shred.

And the inclusion of reversed track modes, bonus gameplay & UI improvements make for a more complete racing experience.

Obviously, we still get that fast-paced checkpoint style arcade racing, as well as the anxiety inspiring Eliminator mode.

The game is as fun as ever, now we just get a lot more content to play with.

And of course… something we can actually hold in our hands in a new physical format. How cool is that?

Release Information

Formula Retro Racing

Formula Retro Racing: World Tour Special Edition is set to release in physical format in October 2023 (exact day not yet announced).

Pre-orders will begin soon from various worldwide retailers, and the game will retail for £34.99 / €39.99 / $39.95usd.

If you’d like more information about retailers, you can check the Numskull website or the PM Studios website for US costumers.

For arcade racing fans, this is for sure an upcoming release you’ll wanna keep on your radar. And you’ll surely be glad to grab a collectible physical copy of this super fun retro racer.
