If you’re a Nintendo Switch fan, then you’ve no doubt heard of the Nitro Deck the amazing grip that makes handheld play infinitely more comfortable. CRKD took the world by storm with their first design, and now the Nitro Deck+ promises more features that will blow our minds.

The original Nitro Deck only came out in September 2023, so the over at CRKD are really keeping their foot on the gas when it comes to updating and creating.

And in fairness, they’ve made these changes to the Nitro Deck after listening to feedback from users, giving people what they want in order to make sure gamers are happy (and without hand cramps) the world over.

So, it’s the Nitro Deck you know plus some slick new additions – let’s take a look!

What’s New With The Nitro Deck+?

Let’s start with the most obvious feature that you can see from the images that you’ve seen so far in this article – the right thumbstick placement.

CRKD say that users have asked for the right thumbstick to be moved up in line with the left one for enhanced comfort. I think that this might be something that has come from the Steam Deck users or to keep it in line with current designs because Nintendo controllers have had the ‘one up, one down’ design since the days of the GameCube in 2001, so I think we’re all pretty much used to that format!

All the thumbsticks will be Hall effect once more, eliminating any signs of stick drift. And the cool thing is that players can also change the tops of the thumbsticks to a grip design that suits them most.

Another cool new feature is having the ability to dock to your TV straight from the Nitro Deck+. Using an HDMI adapter without having to remove the Switch from the unit time and time again.

That’s pretty cool if you do a lot of traveling or take your Switch between the office and home and don’t want to keep carting a dock around in your bag with you!

Other new features include programmable sidekick buttons to play your own way, as well as having the ability to adjust the sensitivity of the triggers to really get down to those differences that make gamers truly professional.

As well as all the new elements, the Nitro Deck+ will come with the trusty CRKD kickstand, pass-through charging, USB-C connectivity, and everything that made the original grip such a winner.

Get Your Orders In Today!

The CRKD Nitro Deck+ is available to pre-order today from the CRKD website and is priced at £69.99/$69.99, which is the same price as the original Nitro Deck when it first retailed.

In terms of available colours, you can pre-order Clear White or Clear Black for that professional gaming look, but we’re always going to land heavily on the retro feel of the GameCube-inspired unit from the original lineup!

Has much changed that would make us want to swap from our original Nitro Deck unit? Probably not, but that’s because we’re so happy with how the original feels in our retro-loving hands. Still, you can rest assured that we’ll be putting it through its paces once it drops to see just how different these two units feel while playing.
