Other than Koroks, I think Pikmin are possibly the cutest characters that Nintendo have ever come up with. They're incredibly helpful and equally as helpless, carrying out amazing feats of strength and bravery while needing you to round them up for fear of being eaten by huge predators.

Despite that, the Pikmin series is one of the least threatening games of all time, and the colourful cast of seedlings have become family favourites with gamers across the globe. Today, LEGO and Pikmin fan ymoxBrickChannel released their LEGO Pikmin gathering set onto the LEGO Ideas page, showcasing all of the different Pikmin types as well as the infamous Red Bulborb that has eaten so many of my little leafy helpers, and Oatchi the Space Dog from Pikmin 4.

These little blocky figures perfectly recreate the onion-dwelling critters. They would look amazing scattered around your home in plant pots and on shelves, hiding in unlikely places to put a smile on your face. But just like the first Pikmin game, the clock is ticking, and they need your help to fully grow into a real LEGO set.

As with all LEGO Ideas projects, there are certain milestones that need to be met. The first is 100 followers, and ymoxBrickChannel has 60 days to reach it. Currently, they have 42 followers in less than one day, so I don't think that's going to be much of a problem.

If the set reaches 10,000 supporters, then it will be looked at by the LEGO Ideas team and considered for a retail set. It's free to show your support, so head over to the project's page and show it some love. (Just try to ignore that Red Bulborb above; it's nature in action, I suppose).
And while you're here, check out the modder who put Pikmin into Ocarina of Time!
