I love coming across wierd and wacky retro games, especially ROM hacks and fan-made games, so when I saw this one, I was quite surprised to see that it released way back in February 2026. It somehow flew under my radar, and it's why I'm writing about it today, because you too may have missed it!
This is technically a fan-made GAME BOY Advance game that takes some minor assets from Goldeneye on N64 and turns them into an easy multiplayer version of 007, allowing you to play against robots in a split-screen mode that somehow assists you with winning. And for those with friends who have a GAME BOY Advance, you're in luck, because you can use it with a link cable to play with friends.
You may be wondering, why split-screen? That's part of the magic. You can see the robots' screen, assisting you with navigating the incredibly pixelated map, and it also makes you aware when the enemy spots you, allowing you to react and increase your chances of winning.
This homebrew game was made by 3DSage, and it's available on itch.io to download for free to be used on your favourite emulators. The lead developer states: I want to start by saying this has been a huge learning experience, and I put a lot of small details to enhance the game experience, and I hope you enjoy it! I made a 4-player split-screen where you compete against 3 computer-controlled enemies. Screen watching is part of the strategy where you can peek at another player's viewport. It's similar to playing GoldenEye on the Nintendo 64!
The enemies will randomly look around. If you can see an enemy, they will slowly turn towards you and lock on and fire. If you fire at them when they can't see you, they will turn towards you and fire. If they can see you even if you aren't looking at them, they will lock on and fire. When anyone dies, they will spawn in a new random unoccupied location.
It's a very neat homebrew title that will undoubtedly scratch that G0ldenEye itch in a way that was never possible on the GAME BOY Advance, and the best part was that this was human-made and not vibe-coded, the way we like it!
