Gaming-related watches have become a bit of a guilty pleasure of ours over the years. Ever since we laid eyes on the luxury Nubeo Space Invaders timepiece complete with its commemorative box, we were hooked and trying to convince our bank managers that there wasn't a problem with our accounts. The latest watchmaker to team up with a gaming giant is Fossil, and as there's a lot of digging involved with Minecraft, I couldn't think of two better companies to team up... perhaps Animal Crossing and Fossil, but that's another idea for another day.

Titled the 'Minecraft x Fossil Limited Edition Grass Chronograph Watch, it's so much more than a watch based on the best-selling game of all time, however. It's a stylish timepiece that, while instantly obvious to the gamers out there on the street, has what I like to call 'subtle nerdy nuances', i.e. you could get away with wearing it around your partner who doesn't like video games.

There are two variants in the range; the Gras bloc and the darker Deesplate. While I like the calm nature of the Grass bloc watch and how it manages to capture the essence of Minecraft with a single two-tone image, it's the outer faceplate of the Deesplate that has me intrigued - it wouldn't look out of place on the wrist of a guitarist in a metal band and it manages to capture the blocky terrain of the game very well.
Look at the dials on the watch face too - the pointers are a pickaxe, a torch, and a sword. Fossil, I commend you for your attention to detail here!

Let's talk some stats, because if Minecraft is all about digging deep into the ground, then you'll presumably want to know how deep you can take these bad boys underwater, right?
Thanks for accepting my tenous link at face value. These watches are water resistant to 50 meters and come with a 44mm steel case. They both come in commemorative boxes too and each have a 22mm silicon strap.
So how much will these set you back? Well, the price tag is £219/$250 and stocks are already incredibly low. I searched here in the United Kingdom and there are some in stock in nearby Fossil stores, but they're all limited availability. Unfortunately, I can imagine that they will arrive on second-hand sites for twice the price soon, but hopefully, you can get your hands (and wrists) on one for the regular price!
