Metroid Fusion is now coming to the new Game Boy Advance roster on Nintendo Switch Online!
We were pretty happy to see one of our favorite retro consoles finally added to the lineup for Nintendo Switch Online.
And it’s about to get even cooler with one of the most beloved games for the GBA available on a current generation console.
Metroid Fusion + Nintendo Switch Online
We said “finally” in the title of this article, even though the new GBA expansion was just added to the Switch Online service just about a month ago.
But we are guessing that this game was likely always coming to the service. But perhaps there were some behind the scenes reasons why it needed to be delayed from the initial launch of GBA.
Or… Nintendo were just smart and knew that it would be a great selling point to specifically drop this one on its own day.
They ghost dropped Metroid Prime Remastered For Switch the same day that the Game Boy expansions were announced.
Surely they didn’t want any Metroid clashes to happen there either. And they were giving us enough time to spend on that game before giving us another one to think about.
Whatever their reasoning – smart move Nintendo. You made the fans happy on two days instead of one!
Metroid Fusion comes to the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack on March 9, 2023.
Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack
Game Boy Advance is part of the Switch Online Expansion Pack, which means that it does not come with the standard Switch Online subscription.
If you’re willing to spend a bit more, you’d get GBA, Nintendo 64, and Sega Genesis titles along with the consoles that Nintendo deemed “regular”.
But if you make good use of your subscription, the price is quite small for the amount of incredible titles to experience.
Obviously, this doesn’t benefit emulation enthusiasts like ourselves, but bringing these classic games to the larger market is certainly earning the universe positive points.
Knowing that new audiences are being exposed to things like Super Mario World or Metroid Fusion on a current gen console is heart warming to a hardcore retro fan like myself.
NintendoLife also pointed out that this means you can enjoy the full mainline Metroid timeline on the Nintendo Switch now. The original NES entry all the way through Metroid Dread.
So yet again… Nintendo Switch is really giving the people what they need.
