Metal Slug is one of the best retro games of all time, and its currently in the spotlight thanks to SNK announcing the release of the upcoming NEOGEO AES+ console. Not only that its Metal Slug's 30th Anniversary this year, so we're seeing more announcements than normal, and I'm all for it!
One of the recent announcements from SNK is that that have teamed up with a Japanese fashion brand known as Kumagumi to create a unique selection of merchandise, including t-shirts, hoodies, accessories and and oversized Utan rug that I really, really want.
This collaboration celebrates 30 years of metal slug and include a wide range of sprites, levels, characters and more. Some of my favourites include the "Pow T-Shirt" featuring the prisoner of war in many different states, made with 100% cotton.
There's also a large rug featuring the adorable Yuta monkey holding a weapon, one avid Metal Slug fans will enjoy, if you're willing to pay the £279/$370 price tag. Then there's smaller items such as limited edition posters to spice up your games room.
There's also a hoodie featuring all of the vehicles in Metal Slug 3, such as Metal, Mariner, Elephant, Flyer, Ostrich, Drill, Copter, Astro and Noid!
Typical merchandise from video games developers can be hit and miss, but these are pretty cool, nostalgic and aren't overwhelming at all, I dig them and the prices aren't bad too, ranging from £25/$35 for a t-shirt to £55/$70 for a hoodie.
