Metal Slug is heading back to our living rooms once more, but not as you know it! On the 30th anniversary of the series, SNK are teaming up with Pix'n Love to reveal a brand new Metal Slug board game, bringing all of the run 'n' gun action from the series you love to the tabletop.

This is the first Metal Slug board game that's ever been made, but the recent drive towards making videogame board games to keep people in the world of retro gaming even when the screens are off has me thinking that it'll be a well-thought-out format, especially if SNK are having a hand in it. As of now, there's no information on price, pieces, release date, or anything else - just a cover image of what the box will, or could look like.

Honestly, I have no idea how this game is going to look yet, which is pretty exciting. The project is up on Gamefound with a 'pre-launch page', with no other information other than that it's going to be 'Fun. Dynamic. EXPLOSIVE!' You can head to GameFound to follow the development and find out information as and when it arrives!

I recently covered the tabletop game range from MemoryCore, a company who are reimagining our favourite games from the 90s as board games. Their sets come with cardboard discs that can be spun around with different game conditions on them as well as counters, character sheets, and cards based on games like Metal Gear Solid and Castlevania. While these games are all based on PS1 titles, it's nice to see a Neo Geo classic joining the fold too, and I'm hoping that SNK's offering will come with as many pieces and surprises.

And who knows, maybe if these two versions do well, we could be opening up Banjo-Kazooie and Ocarina of Time N64-themed board games with pieces and N64 carts that double up as dice shakers or something!
