Mega Man fans are about to find a hole burning in their wallet – there’s a new set of Mega Man X trading cards releasing in early 2025, and you can pre-order them right now.
Yes, there’s yet another thing that we need in our lives that our 90s-kid-collector-brains just can’t pass up on, a trading card collection dedicated to Mega Man X. Featuring artwork from the hit series, fans can embark on a journey through the Maverick Wars to acquire holofoil cards and rare exclusives as they build their collection.
According to Cardsmiths who currently have the Capcon licensed cards on presale, the set contains 60 each of Collector Cards, Collector Parallel Rainbow Holofoils, Collector Parallel Pixel Holofoils, and Serial-Numbered “Megafractor” Cards. There are also 15 Armor Refractor Cards, 10 Meta-Rare Refractor Cards, and 9 Key Art Holofoil Cards. If you’re really lucky, you might get one of 7 Culture Shokz cards too!
Each $19.95 Series One box contains two packs with 5 cards per pack, so for the fans of quick maths, that’s 10 cards per total. Here’s the official pack odds:
- Collector Parallel Rainbow Holofoil (1:2)
- Collector Parallel Pixel Holofoil (1:2)
- Armor Refractor (1:48)
- Serial-Numbered Megafractor (1:12)
- Key Art Holofoil (1:48)
- Meta-Rare Refractor (1:96)
- Culture Shokz (1:96)
As for release dates, I’ve found a couple of different outlets offering different dates at the beginning of 2025. Dave & Adam’s Card World is advertising a release date of January 8th, but Cardsmiths is showing a release date of February 15th. I can imagine Brandon will have a box on pre-order already, so when a set arrives in the Retro Dodo office, we’ll be the first to let you know what they look like!
In other Mega Man news, Capcom’s hero is heading to Amazon as part of their Secret Level Gaming Anthology, and Capcom themselves have hinted that new Mega Man games could be coming to the table. With the arrival of these new trading cards, it’s never been a better time to be a Mega Man fan, and 2025 could have way more surprises in store for us than we first thought!
