Sometimes, it's the remakes we didn't know we needed that end up being the remakes we can't stop talking about. ZeichiGames has put a lot of effort into taking the Tiger Handhelds classic version of Mega Man 2 and bringing it to the Game Boy in a new ROM that supports the Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Super Game Boy SNES cartridge.

As you can imagine, remaking an LCD game for the Game Boy isn't a straightforward task. ZeichiGames has taken the opportunity to give the LCD game some new mechanics that make it easier to play, all while capturing that simple Tiger Electronics 'limited gameplay' feel at the same time.

There are 8 stages of play with a robot opponent to face in the first 6 stages. You'll need to take on these Robomasters and get their weapons in order to defeat future enemies. Don't just fire willy-nilly, though; weapons have a meter that means you won't be able to use them when it runs out.

The Game Boy version of the Mega Man 2 LCD game is free to download and play from Itch.io, though you can make a donation to ZeichiGames to help support them if you wish!
