What Can We Expect From Luigi’s Mansion 4 Gameplay?

Luigi’s Mansion 3 brought all of Luigi’s Mushroom Kingdom family into the fray, and the arrival of Gooigi gave us a little foray into co-op gameplay.
Will Nintendo bring Gooigi back for a second time, or will they give Luigi a sidekick in the ghost-busting business?
If we’re being honest, we think that, as this is the last Luigi’s Mansion game (take a moment to let that sink in) and after the success of the Mario Bros. Movie, that Mario might join Luigi for his final title in the series.
Having Luigi as the one in charge of Mario for a change would be nice as Ghost Busting is his business, with Mario providing more of a supporting role.
In terms of game mechanics and the main gameplay style, we don’t expect much to change. You’re not going to see Luigi heading out into an open world like Link moving from Skyward Sword to BotW, but he might be leaving the mansion behind for good.
The Main Luigi’s Mansion 4 Rumours

The main rumour that we need to talk about is that Luigi’s Mansion 4 isn’t supposed to be set in a mansion at all.
The main working title is ‘Apartment of Apparitions’, which means that Luigi is going to be chasing spectres about in a big apartment complex rather than a mansion.
There are a lot of fake plots out there on the internet, some of them absolutely wild, but most of them featuring Mario.
Oh, and I don’t think there will be a little purple dodo in the final scenes like our still above.
We also saw am ‘interview’ with Satoru Iwata talking about Luigi’s Mansion 4 in which he was swearing at the interviewer, so you can’t believe everything that you read on the internet!
As we’ve alluded to above, there’s a strong chance that Mario is going to be joining the fray alongside E.Gadd and the Polterpup, and that this is the last outing for Luigi in the ‘Mansion’ series.
I guess Nintendo want to quit while the going is good, and they’re going to need to put all the resources on Metroid Prime 4 if we ever have a hope of playing it!
New Luigi’s Mansion 4 Levels

If the update to the Luigi’s Mansion format is true and we’re going to be seeing Luigi stepping out of a Haunted Mansion into his apartment complex, then the levels are going to look a lot different.
They’ll have to have a lot of detail in them, lots of nooks and crannies where players can find loose change and hidden treasures, but we’re expecting a much more modern feel to with a lot more modern-day gadgets for players to interact with.
Most of the rooms will be entered in the same way, and the layout of certain areas accessible only by drains or vents will remain very similar.
We’re excited for the concept of a new, more current ghost busting outing with Luigi – I wonder if the ghosts will be wearing tracksuits and vaping in this game?
To avoid all the rooms having ‘the same feel’ I would imagine that Nintendo will employ certain themes like they did in Luigi’s Mansion 3, with different floors holding different design styles or even transporting Luigi into different time zones.
Hey, he’d look good chasing ghosts on a futuristic floor!
