How To Unlock Secret Zones In Mario + Rabbids: Sparks Of Hope

how to unlock secret zones in mario rabbids sparks of hope

Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope is a beefy game, especially in terms of secrets.

If you’ve ploughed your way through the main story and now want to get 100% completion, you’ll need more than brute force.

Although many of the side quests are simple battlefield romps, there’s some that require monetary exchanges, like the secret zones.

Every Mario Rabbids planet has one hidden away behind trees, at the top of mountains, and sometimes at the other end of a tunnel.

They can be tricky to find, and trickier to open.

Fortunately, we know the magic password. Or rather, we have the keys to help you unlock these enticing doors.

So, if you’re ready to enter into a colourful world of intriguing puzzles and learn how to unlock secret zone in Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope, read on!

Secret Zone Locations

Every secret zone is hidden behind a door, and to find that door you need to explore. No, our mistake, just look at the map.

Although these zones are “secret”, they’re marked on your map once you’ve landed the ship. However, despite being given a marker, its specific location is one you still need to search for. These zones are more semi-secret than secret.

The map marker is always a bright yellow Spark. This is because your reward is a brand new Spark companion, typically of the rarer variety, making these secret zones a must for anyone hoping to get the best Sparks of the game

How To Obtain Secret Zone Keys In Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope

Ideally, you’ll get the secret zone key before finding the door. If not, you’ll need to endure some back and forth; thank goodness for fast travel points, eh?

To obtain a key, you need to visit the local vendor.

But before you’re lulled into a false sense of security, thinking you can just throw coins at the problem, you’re going to need more than gold coins. You’ll need planet coins

Planet coins are obtained by completing side quests, and so unlocking secret zones and getting a 100% progress go hand-in-hand for completionists.

For every side quest you finish, you’ll receive one planet coin. You can see how many you have available when you visit the shop, on the right-hand side, under your golden coins total.

Each door has a different monetary requirement, costing between 7 and 12 planet coins, depending on how far in the game you are. For example, the Beacon Beach secret zone key is cheaper to purchase than the Barrendale Mesa one.

Behind The Doors Of The Secret Zones

Once inside, you’ll be greeted with environmental puzzles and/or enemies.

Beacon Beach was all about bypassing enemies – or tackling them head on if stealth isn’t for you – while Pristine Peaks, Palette Prime, Terra Flora, and Barrendale Mesa are all about puzzles.

And believe me when I say these puzzles get more challenging each time. I refuse to admit how close I was to rage quitting while navigating the Terra Flora secret zone!

Secret zones? What secret zones! Now we’ve unlocked the doors, their secrets are ours to keep.
