Knowing how to start The Teal Mask DLC for Pokemon Scarlet & Violet is something that many of you out there are needing the answer to, since it’s not actually made very clear.
Pokemon game DLCs are funny additions; they bring a bunch of new content but sometimes equal amounts of confusion.
It’s the same with the Teal Mask, with no ‘start DLC’ button if you want to get right into the fresh additions.
Luckily, we’ve got you covered! Dive into the article below as we detail exactly how to start The Teal Mask so you can get straight to catching Pokemon in the lands of Kitakami.
How to Start The Teal Mask in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet
To begin with, you’ll first have to make sure you’ve actually purchased the DLC. This is done by heading to the Nintendo eShop and buying The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero Expansion Pass, which includes The Teal Mask and The Indigo Disk content.
After that’s bought and installed, you can start The Teal Mask pretty early in your playthrough – you do not have to complete the full game.
Instead, what you need to do is begin the main quest of Scarlet & Violet – The Treasure Hunt.
It’s Time To Treasure Hunt
This becomes available after the intro to the game where you both pick your starter Pokemon, enter the city of Mesagoza, as well as visit your school for the first time.
After speaking to various NPCs such as Nemona, Clavell, and Arven, you’ll unlock various paths in the game including the aforementioned Treasure Hunt.
Once you do this, you’ll get a call from Jacq on your Rotom Phone inviting you on a school trip.
Funnily enough, this school trip is one that is located in Kitakami – the new area introduced with The Teal Mask DLC.
After taking Jacq’s call, you’ll need to head to the Entrance Hall of the school where an NPC called Briar will be waiting for you to talk to them.
Upon starting this dialogue, Jacq will also make an appearance, providing you with an updated Pokedex for the DLC.
Once the conversation has finished, speak to Briar again who will ask you if you’re ready to head to Kitakami.
Naturally, to start the DLC, you’ll be wanting to select Yes. If you’re not ready though, this is your opportunity to get any preparations in place.
