We know more than most that some of the elements in the world of Octopath Traveler can be a little confusing at first, which is why we’re writing this guide on how to solve A Fish Filcher in Octopath Traveler II.
I know… what the heck is a Fish filcher?
Don’t worry, if you follow this guide, you’ll have everything you need to know. We wish we could go back in time and have this guide to help us… which is a confusing thought as it wouldn’t actually exist.
This isn’t one of those side quests that requires physical strength or a brain like Megamind, but it is tricky when it comes to discovering how long you actually have to hang around before you can make this part of the tale active.
Patience is the name of the game and the aim of the side quest here. So, get down to the harbour with your net in hand and let’s figure out this fish filcher business once and for all!
How To Solve A Fish Filcher In Octopath Traveler II
To solve this curious caper you need to change to nighttime, then wait until dawn for the Thief to appear. Once he arrives, you need to Ambush or Soothe him.
So why are so many people struggling to figure this side quest out?
Well, it’s because of all the waiting.
Most of the time, when a quest involves nighttime activities, you simply switch to the right time and it’ll trigger the next stage. However, in the case of A Fish Filcher, you have to wait until “the middle of the night”.
Those words are the hint to solving this quest, given to you by the Fisherman when he tells you of his woe. Waiting is the name of the game, but you’ll also need Castti or Throné in your party in order to Soothe or Ambush him.
This is because these are the only two Path Actions that will stop his thieving ways. I used Throné because I enjoy surprising NPCs, but you can choose a more… delicate approach.
Once you’ve subdued the thief, it’ll become morning and the Fisherman will confront him. But instead of fists flying, the two solve their issues by joining forces to become a formidable fishing team.
If you fancy taking on another side quest, I can show you how to solve The Baby’s Coming in Octopath Traveler II, or perhaps you’d rather find out how to solve A Gambling Man in Octopath Traveller II? I have a guide for that as well!
