How To Solve The Baby’s Coming In Octopath Traveler II

  • March 10, 2023

Let me guess, you’ve met a man in Cape Cold in need of a Midwife from Flamechurch? But when you find her, she doesn’t follow you back to Cape Cold? I’ve been there, which is why I’m going to help you solve The Baby’s Coming in Octopath Traveler II.

The trick to completing this quest is a very simple one, but its simplicity can be so easily overlooked.

When I spoke to the Midwife, I was confused as to why she wouldn’t follow me, even though the side quest was active, and I knew she was the right NPC.

Then it hit me: I needed to use one of my Path Actions, or should I say, one of Temenos’ Path Actions.

If you want to finally reunite this frantic husband with the Midwife and help deliver a new baby into the world, we’d better get started – a woman is in labour, after all!

Solving The Baby’s Coming In Octopath Traveler II

Temenos needs to be in your party to complete ‘The Baby’s Coming’. Once you have him, travel to the Inn during the day and use his Guide Path Action to lead the Midwife to Cape Cold.

Seems easy, doesn’t it? Well, there are a few key details you need to be aware of first.

For one, you need Temenos, which can prove difficult if you’re only visiting Flamechurch for the first time. But even if you have him, he still needs to be Level 10 to Guide the Midwife to Cape Cold.

I started with Throné, so getting to Flamechurch was pretty quick for me, but if you start with Partitio or Agnea, who reside on the western continent, you have a bigger trek on your hands.

However, this quest won’t trigger unless you visit Cape Cold first, so I wouldn’t deliberately go looking for it unless you’re in the right area.

In all honesty, the best time to start this quest is when you have Osvald and Temenos in your party, as the two are near one another. My advice would be to get Temenos first, then go get Osvald (this is assuming you don’t start with Osvald).

Whenever you’re ready and able to Guide the Midwife, don’t be fooled into thinking you have to walk her all the way to Cape Cold because you can fast travel with her.
