Anything to make Link’s journey across the map easier is an important feature everyone needs to know about, which is why I want to show you how to get the Travel Medallion in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom.
I’m not talking about standard fast travel, which can only transport you to Shrines or Skyview Towers, but of a way to drop a fast travel portal wherever you want.
When coming to the end of the main storyline, I found the Travel Medallion ridiculously handy, especially when I was making my way down to Ganon all the way under Hyrule Castle.
Of course, if you’ve already found the Demon King but can’t beat him, you’ll want to read my how to beat Ganondorf in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom guide instead.
But enough about the Demon King – this isn’t about him. This is about unlocking the Travel Medallion to make Link’s, and your life more convenient.
How To Trigger The Travel Medallion Quest
Before you can get the Travel Medallion, you have to complete a couple of main storyline quests first.
Luckily, you can do this very early on in the game. All you need to do is head to Lookout Landing and talk to Robbie.
By doing this, you’ll activate ‘Camerawork in the Depths’, a Chasm diving adventure that’s as spooky as it sounds.
But even after completing this quest, you’re not done at Lookout Landing just yet. You then need to talk with Josha to trigger ‘A Mystery in the Depths’, which is vital for you to complete to get both the Travel Medallion, but also to learn how to get Autobuild in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom.
Only after you’ve completed this quest will Robbie leave for his lab located in Hateno Village, to the far southeast of Lookout Landing.
The easiest way to unlock its map location is to head to the Mount Lanayru Skyview Tower (coordinates 3846, -1307, 0539).
How To Get The Travel Medallion In Zelda Tears Of The Kingdom
To get the Travel Medallion, talk to Robbie at his Hateno Ancient Tech Lab and enquire about Purah Pad updates. Selecting the Travel Medallion will activate the quest, leading you to its location at the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab.
Given how useful this upgrade is, you can’t just walk into the lab and take it. Link will have to face some of the Yiga Clan who’ve set up shop at the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab; fortunately, they’re not too difficult to beat.
Once you’ve cleared out the lab, open the chest to grab the Travel Medallion Protoype.
Talk with Robbie again back in Hateno village to learn how to use the feature, which is a simple process of going into your Key Items and selecting to place the Travel Medallion.
You’ll also be able to collect that medallion whenever you want, thus allowing you to move them around the map with ease.
Can You Upgrade The Travel Medallion?
When you first unlock the Travel Medallion, you’ll only have one fast travel portal to play with. But if you take the time to upgrade this feature, you’ll have a total of three medallions to use.
For the second upgrade to the Travel Medallion, you need to unlock 10 Skyview Towers anywhere on the map.
Then, for the third upgrade, you need to unlock all the Skyview Towers.
Without a doubt, this is one of the best features of the Purah Pad, and will help you easily travel to normally obscure areas on the map.
Now you know how to get the Travel Medallion in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, you should move onto learning how to beat Frost Geeloks in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom to make reaching certain locations less dangerous.
