Stay sharp; it’s time to check out how to evolve Rhydon in Pokemon Legends: Arceus!

Remember the good old Red & Blue days where Pokemon like Ryhdon and Kanghaskan reigned supreme?

Well, fast-forward to 2022 and nothing much has changed… bar the fact that Rhydon now has a bad-ass new evolution for us all to enjoy.

Players first came across Rhyperior back in Diamond and Pearl, and he’s become a firm fixture in most of the games ever since.

But how do we evolve Rhydon in Pokemon Legends: Arceus? Do we trade? Do we level up? What’s the deal?

Don’t worry; you’re about to find out!

Where to Find Ryhorn In Pokemon Legends: Arceus?

how to evolve rhydon in pokemon legends: arcues - finding ryhorn

Rhyorn hangs out around the Celestica trail area in the Coronet Highlands. You’ll also find them in the Sonorous Path and the Sacred Plaza.

If the Coronet Highlands aren’t your bag, then take a look in the Crimson Highlands. There are usually tonnes around Diamond Heights and Diamond Settlement, so take a look there too.

How To Evolve Ryhorn In Pokemon Legends: Arceus?

Ryhorn Evolves into Rhydon when it reaches level 42.

Yeah, talk about having to put some effort in to get those results!

I guess it only makes sense; Rhydon is tough as nails, so it’s going to take a long time for Rhyorn to test its mettle and prove that it’s got what it takes.

Luckily, there’s no friendship requirements or anything to meet either

How To Find Rhydon In Pokemon Legends: Arceus?

Rhydon can also be found on the Celestica Trail with Ryhorn and in pretty much most of the same Coronet Highlands areas.

You can also pick up a Rhydon at Bolderoll Slope in the Crimson Highlands.

How To Evolve Rhydon In Pokemon Legends: Arceus?

In previous games, it only used to be possible to evolve Rhydon after trading it with another person while it was holding a specific item… on a blue moon while raining in February…

… you get the idea.

Now, thanks to the cool inclusion of the Linking Cord item that can be obtained in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, there’s none of this annoying messing around.

All you need to do is get hold of the Protector item. Then, just show it Rhydon, and the big lad will turn into Rhyperior.

There’s no need to level your Rhydon up any more after it evolved from Ryhorn either. If you’ve got the Protector, then you can do it straight away.

Obtaining The Protector

The easiest way to get the Protector is to go to the trading post in everyone’s favourite location, Jubilife Village.

Or, if you like a challenge, you can roam around and find one in Space-Time Distortions, though there’s no guarantee you’ll get one as the drops are completely random.

Where To Find Rhyperior In Pokemon Legends: Arceus?

How To Evolve Rhydon In Pokemon Legends: Arceus - Find rhyperior

Players can find an Alpha Rhyperior in the Sacred Plaza area of the Coronet Highlands, but it’s not for the faint of heart!

The main trick when catching this beast is to aim a higher-level Pokeball at its back.

Use Razz berries to get it into position, chuck a smoke bomb into the equation, and then fire your Pokeball right at Rhyperior’s back.

Or, you can just try to battle it into submission, but this is going to prove a heck of a lot harder!

And that’s a wrap!

Thanks for checking out this article on how to evolve Rhydon in Pokemon Legends: Arceus. Hopefully you’ve now added the big brute to your team and are already bossing those Space-Time Distortion battles.
