LEGO will always be one of our vices. I can still remember coveting that little red bucket I had as a kid like it was the holy grail, and my love for the Danish block-building giants has only grown as I've gotten older and acquired 'adult money'. With arcade sets based on PAC-MAN and NES sets complete with retro TVs, Retro Dodo Towers has become a bit of a bricky shrine.
If this EXCITEBIKE arcade set lands on our doorstep, we might have to start getting rid of consoles to make more room!
This playable arcade set built by BrickArcade is currently looking for supporters on the LEGO Ideas page. It manages to harness all of the madness of the 1984 NES game turned arcade classic, with controls that allow you to actually move the bikes.
Move bikes up and down, turn a dial to do a flip, and catch air as the motorised track moves underneath you. LEDs light up the inside so all of the action can be fully on display at all times, and as this is a LEGO set, you can design the inside of your course to your own specifications!

The set is very cleverly designed with a counterbalance that allows for huge jumps to be made while the track scrolls along. The attention to detail is insane, and it's certainly one for LEGO and retro gaming enthusiasts as opposed to a toy that kids might play with.
With 194 days for BrickArcade to double their current supporter numbers and reach 5,000, the chances of this set someday becoming a reality look quite likely. And it's all down to a resurgence in arcade gaming, thanks to companies like Quarter Arcades and Evercade who are leading the retro charge. Get your vote in and let's see if we can help it along its way!
