In March, Evercade surprised us all with a reveal of their new handheld called the Nexus, featuring a large 5.8" IPS display, the ability to play Evercade cartridges and dual analogue sticks, making it capable of playing more modern 32 and 64-bit games than its predecessors.
Until now, the only images and videos we have seen of the Evercade Nexus are ones that have been renders, or mockups which can only go so far, but as of today Evercade released a video showcasing a hands-on with the console, so you can see what it looks like in the hands all while offering some more information regarding Eversync, a new feature that allows you to play your games with another Nexus handheld over a wireless connection.
Sean Cleaver, who is the Head of Marketing at Evercade, starts by sharing how capable the device is, even being able to play 64-bit games such as Tomb Raider on this device using Evercade's array of cartridges. Pair those games with comfortable ergonomics, a big screen, two analogue sticks and wireless audio, and you have yourself a fun, unique way to play and collect your favourite games of the past.
In the video, you can see the device in hand, offering a first-time look at the device in person, and it's the first time seeing a few seconds of Eversync too, which allows you to connect with another Nexus handheld and offer them to experience your cartridge that they may not own, which I think is a very neat way of playing with friends even if they don't have the game.

After talking with Sean, it is likely that media and Evercade fans will be able to see the device in person at this year's Gamescom in Germany in August, but until then, it's under wraps while the Evercade team are hard at work finishing the product for an October release. The Evercade Nexus is available to pre-order on Amazon for UK/EU readers and at Gamestop for our friends over the pond. Prices start at £169/$199.
We have an Evercade Nexus N64 Edition pre-ordered, which we will review and create a video on when it lands in our office later in the year, but we'll also try our hardest to meet with Evercade before then, likely at Gamescom, to give you an early look!
