Epilogue first came onto the scene way back in 2021 with the GAME BOY operator, a cartridge-based accessory that plugs into your PC/Mac so that you can manage your cartridge files.

Not only that, it was a way to play your actual GB games on your PC/Mac too, which made it a bunch of fun for those wanting to play their phyiscal collection on their desk setup.

Now, a few years later, after a lot of hard work, they're ready to reveal their next product. The SN Operator.

What does it do?

The SN Operator is a way to authenticate real or fake cartridges. You can manage your save files by transferring them safely to your PC/Mac and backing them up in a secure manner.

You can also load games, ROM files, and save states to new or old cartridges, should you create ROM Hacks or fan games, for example.

The in app-emulator, which you install on your PC/Mac, allows you to sync save states, you can co-op play, sync up modern controllers, add cheats and even unlock achievements too.

"SN Operator takes the complexity and guesswork out of backing up your saves and game data. It's a simple, 2-click process that helps you relax, knowing your games and save files are digitally archived on your computer"

- Epilogue Team

Apparently, the SN Operator runs a proprietary testing framework at multiple risk points, with built-in safeguards like overcurrent protection and connection-stability checks ensure consistently accurate readings.

Welcome, RetroAchievements

The SN Operator works with the RetroAchievements platform to track challenges and progress across each game in your collection.

You can play directly from authentic cartridges while adding a competitive edge to your retro gaming experience. Whether you're gunning for friends' stats or your own personal bests, every achievement is earned, not given, states Epilogue.

Super Scope™ and SNES® Mouse support

Now this is awesome. Epilogue have managed to get the Super Scope and the SNES Mouse to work via "PlayBack" via the App.

Your computer's mouse stands in for both the Super Scope™ and SNES® Mouse — no extra hardware needed.

When can I pre-order?

The SN Operator is available to pre-order on the 30th December 2025 at 9am PT, and ships in April 2026.

Pricing starts at around $59.99, and those who pre-order early will receive the "Founder's Edition" model.

We're excited to see Epilogue launch their second product, and after snooping around their website, we can see they are working on a 3rd product, but it's not been announced, and likely won't be for a while. My bet is the N64 Operator, seeing as the N64 is back with a bang after all of these modern versions from Analogue and ModRetro, but only time will tell.
