Epilogue know how to turn up to the party. What do you do when you've already created two amazing products for Game Boy and SNES cartridges and the N64's birthday has arrived? You announce a new product that allows you to manage and play your N64 cartridges on your Mac or PC, that's what.

Epilogue are single-handedly providing us with methods of managing our Nintendo cartridges. Not only can they tell whether carts are real or fake and manage save files so that we can back them up or transfer them to emulators, but they can also be used to play our physical games without the original hardware and can sync them up with RetroAchievements too to add a whole new dimension to our favourite titles.

Considering the success of the GB Operator and the SN Operator, it was only a matter of time until the 64 Operator launched. The video above shows Donkey Kong 64 playing on what looks like a CRT before revealing that it's actually on a computer, running via an emulator using a physical cartridge. It means that you could play DK64 or Mario Kart 64 on a train via your laptop without having to cart your N64 around. And yes, you could always just emulate them on a handheld, but it's way more fun slotting physical games in!

The SN Operator managed to get the Super Scope and the SNES Mouse working via your computer's mouse. I wonder what tricks Epilogue will have up their sleeves for the 64 Operator? Luckily, we don't have long to wait, as the company have announced that they'll be releasing it this year in 2026. Looks like I know what I'm getting myself for Christmas then, huh?

Head to Epilogue to find out more about the Operator range, and keep your eyes peeled here for more information as and when I get it!
