For those of you who spent the latter part of the ’90s putting more hours than you can possibly remember into playing Unreal Gold & Unreal Tournament, Epic Games has just confirmed some incredible news that will make you feel like Christmas has come early. The company has given the team over at OldUnreal the go-ahead to host installers for both of these classic titles on their website for free!
I know, It’s a lot to take in, isn’t it? For those who don’t know, OldUnreal is an online hub comprised of Unreal Fans who are striving to keep the series alive on modern machines. According to GamingOnLinux, a spokesperson for Epic Games has confirmed that both games are now available for free on archive.org, something that fans will be very pleased with after Epic Games pulled them from stores back in 2022.

OldUnreal now has the installers for both games on their website for Windows users to download, pulling files from archive.org. They’ve been keen to spread the word that they officially have permission from Epic Games, and while I haven’t actually seen anything from Epic Games themselves mirroring the news on their own channels, at the minute there’s nothing to suggest that the statement above isn’t true!
Head to OldUnreal for more information about both games!
