The Dream Color Plus really is the gift that keeps on giving. Fans of the Dreamcast have been rejoicing over the fact that Angelo Pontes, aka Nai Adventure, has shown off the new Dreamcast controller with two joysticks, finally righting a 28-year wrong. It always amazed me that it only came with one stick when the other consoles of the time were boasting two, and perhaps that's one of the reasons why it didn't succeed as well as the competition.
The VMU of the Dream Color Plus will allow users to button map that second stick quickly and easily, but that's not all it will do. You see, the Dream Color Plus also allows you to use the VMU as an emulator for other retro consoles.
DreamColor Plus goes beyond, it can even emulate other consoles!

On top of everything we've already shown, there's still a lot more coming. In our latest live stream, we demonstrated the controller running Master System and Game Gear emulation, and even better, there's potential… pic.twitter.com/YxwkCahYWW
Angelo has put up a post on X showing the DCP emulating classic Sega consoles - the Master System and the Game Gear. There could well be more consoles heading our way in the future too, so hopefully we could be seeing Pokémon Red being playable through the controller before too long.
I love the fact that we're not only getting games from other systems arriving on the Dreamcast, but we're also getting the same treatment on its new controller too. It's safe to say that almost 30 years after its arrival on Japanese shop shelves, the Dreamcast is finally having its time in the sun!
For those of you interested in buying a Dream Color Plus controller, the crowdfunding campaign is live now!
