Whether you're sitting in a coffee shop like I am right now or pretending to work in a meeting, browser-based games are absolute lifesavers. We all have a smartphone or laptop with us wherever we go these days, and being able to log on and have a short stint on a game to let off some steam no matter where you are is invaluable. And with the world getting excited about the return of Fox McCloud in the new Star Fox 64 remake, it only makes sense to showcase a demake featuring the fox superstar himself for the Game Boy Color.
Arwing is a GBC demake of the classic SNES game that can be played in your browser, via an emulator like Delta, or on your Analogue Pocket. It takes the premise and action of the SNES game and turns it into a top-down shooting title the likes of Tiger Heli, and it's awesome.
Arwing comes to us from demake dev Albioweapon. You'll battle your way across the Lylat System just like in the original game, only this time in 8-bit. Get into dogfights, get help from the Great Fox ship, and collect classic powerups like the double lasers.
I've been playing for a little bit while sitting here drinking my coffee, and the amount of lasers I've been firing has made me look like I'm trying to smash up my keyboard. Some of the enemies and boss fights are ridiculous - this demake looks just like a proper GBC game and brings a healthy level of difficulty along with it. Plus, for a Star Fox fan like me, getting to see Corneria and Aquas along with all of the other planets in the Lylat System remade for the GBC feels like Christmas at Peppy Hare's house.
