Sony have announced the next wave of classic PlayStation titles arriving on PS+ Premium next week, with Cool Boarders and Jak & Daxter: The Lost Frontier leading the way.
The announcement popped up on the PlayStation Blog yesterday afternoon as part of Sony’s monthly update to their subscription services, with the new titles arriving on Tuesday 19th March 2024.
Despite some criticism in the past for the limited number of classic titles added to PS+ Premium, the PlayStation maker has been on a roll recently, and Cool Boarders and Jak & Daxter: The Last Frontier looking to increase the value proposition even further.
In total, there are five new classics joining the top tier with Gods Eater Burst, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy, and Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure All-Star Battle R completing the line-up.
Cool Boarders first hit the slopes, and PS1 consoles, back in 1996 and was the first dedicated snowboarding game on Sony’s original games machine. While simplistic in its design, Cool Boarders will be a welcome addition to fans of extreme sports with a PS+ Premium subscription.
Jak & Daxter: The Lost Frontier saw Naughty Dog’s platforming duo take to the skies on PSP back in 2009 in the first game of the series developed by High Impact Games.
While it didn’t reach the top half of our best Jak & Daxter games list, The Lost Frontier is still an exciting and entertaining romp with two of PlayStation’s most iconic characters.
Extra! Extra!
As if bringing Cool Boarders and Jak & Daxter to PS+ Premium wasn’t good enough, PS+ Extra subscribers will also benefit from a raft of new additions.
The lineup for PS+ Extra includes the superb Resident Evil 3 Remake, which gives one of our favourite PS1 horror titles a current-gen glow-up for extremely detailed zombie gore.
Elsewhere Marvel’s Midnight Suns, one of the best modern tactical RPG games, throws a bunch of Avengers and X-Men characters together for a hilariously funny yet challenging campaign of heroes versus demons.
The remaining games dropping on PS+ Extra next week include; NBA 2K24 Kobe Bryant Edition, LEGO DC Supervillains, Mystic Pillars: Remastered, Blood Bowl 3, Super Neptunia RPG, and Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot.
