It's demake time again, folks, and this time Valve's classic brain bender Portal is getting the 16-bit treatment. From a game with futuristic visuals that has always felt like the spiritual successor to Lode Runner, to a sidescrolling game that you might have found on the Sega Genesis, CharAznable0225 has managed to recreate all of the gameplay themes in a 2D style, putting your patience and your grey cells to the test.

Oh, and the end goal of receiving cake still applies - everybody loves cake!

The visuals aren't very exciting compared to the original, with very little depth to the levels in terms of what you can see on the screen. Still, if you're a fan of pixel art and 2D puzzlers, then you'll be in your element here. CharAznable0225 has focused solely on the puzzling gameplay element here, and it's exciting to see how they have ported the original Portal mechanics over to a 2D game while still managing to capture those head-scratching moments that make you go 'wait, what?'.

The game is compatible with Windows devices only and is available from Itch.io with a 'name your own price' download fee.
