It's hard to believe that it's been 20 years since Mother 3 released on the GBA. The third and final game of the Mother series still holds a very special place in the hearts of Japanese gamers, and many of us Western gamers have experienced its majesty thanks to the fan translation project led by Tomato, which I discovered recently had over 100,000 downloads in its first week back in 2008!

For those of you unaware of Mother 3, it follows Lucas, another boy with psychic abilities like Ness. It's known for being a bit darker than Mother/Earthbound with some harder-hitting topics, a real credit to the GBA.
The watch itself is a G-Shock DW-5600 and looks very much like Lucas' t-shirt. According to @meccha_japan and the official branding for the watch (which I suppose is the most trustworthy source), it's inspired by the sunflower field from Chapter 6 of the game. Still, I guess you'll all pick up different thoughts and feelings that remind you of Mother 3 when you see this watch.

Let's talk about the finer details, because these are really what make it. Mr Saturn features heavily on the band and as a feature when the night light is on. There's also a Mother 3 logo on the front of the watch, an engraving on the back, and a commemorative tin for you to keep it safe in.

The watch itself is priced at ¥19,800. According to the official product listing, it's $160 for US customers and £145 for UK buyers. You'll be able to put in an application (yes, you have to apply!) to get this watch from this Friday, the 17th of July, from 11am Japanese time. That's 3am UK time and 7pm the previous day, July 16th, for Mother 3 fans in California. Head to the Mother Shop for more information!
