Books4Games Launches A New Way To Store Retro Games On Kickstarter

If you’re like me then your game cartridges are sliding around in the bottom of a drawer, or hidden in the basement, or still gathering dust in the back of your games consoles.

Shameful, I know, but I come with good news to change that.

A new company called Books4Games has recently launched a crowdfunding campaign for their upcoming cartridge display pieces on Kickstarter.

Book4Games is a company based in the South of France that specialises in making custom display storage solutions for retro-gamers and video game collectors. It was founded in 2021 by a small group of people with a never-ending passion for retro video games and pop culture of the 80s and 90s.

This team also work full-time jobs while building this and are hoping they can pursue their passion of making awesome products for retro gamers if the Kickstarter is successful.

The precision storage and display units house your cartridges in a foam rib cage allowing you t show off the impressive art that many retro cartridges have to offer.

Some editions like the Gameboy display has separate foam padding that can fit cartridges with or without their protective cases.

We had the opportunity to test the Book4Games prototypes, and we were pleased to see that even Gameboy Advance cartridges fit inside of it when stacked! it’s our new favourite way to store our best Gameboy games and best Gameboy Color games.

This is their second kickstarter, and their final attempt at reaching €8,000 in backing to make this a reality. They have learnt from their previous mistakes and are now back with a refreshed product, with extra quality and better artwork.

The team have partnered with unique illustrators to create limited edition cases to store your cartridges in called “signature sleeves”. The normal displays have a more basic, minimal look which we personally dig, as if it’s meant to look like it’s in a retro museum.

The great feature of this product is that not only can you store them and stack them away, but you can also use them to display them on a shelf, or as a backdrop in your videos for example!

Books4Games have expanded into a wide number of consoles, for example, they are launching display solutions for the following consoles:

  • Gameboy (without case)
  • Gameboy (with case)
  • Game & Watch
  • Nintendo 64
  • SEGA Mega Drive/Genesis
  • FAMICOM

Each sleeve only costs approximately €24 on Kickstarter making it an affordable solution for storing your games in an artistic manner.

It also makes a great gift for yourself or a friend that has a retro gaming collection. We’re excited to see where Books4Games heads to after this, and we’re certain they’ll be keeping us retro gamers happy for years to come.

We wish them the best of luck with their crowdfunding campaign, and don’t forget if you’re backing them, you’re helping out a group of friends make something cool for the retro gaming community, which is hard to do in a time of economic crisis.
