If you're reading this, it looks like you have good taste in handhelds, because AYN's latest handheld console is now available to pre-order, known as the Odin 3 Portal, a large, incredibly powerful 16:9 handheld that's ready to become your "one and only" handheld device for those wanting a single-screen beast.

AYN are renowned for creating premium handheld devices, and you likely know them for creating the AYN Thor, a dual-screen Android handheld that went viral throughout 2026 and every gamer and their mothers have one, for good reason; it rocks. So, I want to share with you everything you need to know about the AYN Odin 3 Portal, just in case you fancy pre-ordering one, so grab a cup of tea and jump in.

What is the AYN Odin 3 Portal & How Does It Compare To Other AYN Handhelds?

Put simply, it's a premium, 7" (single-screen) Android handheld capable of playing your Android and retro games at incredibly high settings, alongside the addition of cloud streaming your modern consoles and PC games too.

Though it can confuse many new to the space because AYN also has an Odin 3 and also an Odin 2 Portal, so let me clear this up as simply as I can. The Odin 3 line of devices, including the new Portal, has Snapdragon 8 CPUs, but the new Portal device has a more refreshed design that looks nearly identical to the Odin 2 Portal, alongside a bigger 7" display, more battery and more storage. See "Portal" as the more modern version of their devices, not necessarily more powerful. It comes with quality-of-life upgrades.

What can it play?

I mean, what can't it emulate? This thing will pack enough power to get you PS2, PS3, 3DS, GameCube, XBOX emulation and more, depending on what RAM package you go for, thanks to the impressive specifications of the device. Though, as always, some of the higher-performing games may require some tinkering in the settings.

But from previous experience, a device like this should be able to meet most of your retro gaming emulation needs, and although I don't emulate my Nintendo Switch games, it will likely be able to do that as well, on top of your high-end Android gaming, cloud streaming and more; it's a device that you can rely on, that's for sure.

Pricing, & Shipping Times

The Odin 3 Portal pricing varies, so first I will mention what the early bird prices are. Shipping begins in "Early November 2026", states AYN, but price-wise:

  • Base: 12GB RAM, 128GB storage, $399 (retail price: $419)
  • Pro: 12GB RAM, 256GB storage, $479 (retail price: $499)
  • Max: 16GB RAM, 512GB storage, $549 (retail price: $579)
  • Max: 16GB RAM, 1TB Storage, $669 (retail price: $699)

Pricing is very reasonable in my opinion, especially in a time of RAM and screen shortages, though it's certainly not cheap and you should likely wait for reviews from your trusted sources when making a buying decision because this is a serious piece of kit with a serious price tag, and the prices vary alongside specifications, which also means performance will vary too.
