The original Pocket Micro handheld by AYANEO was a beautifully crafted, metal device, with a glass face and too much power, becoming one of our favourite premium devices for emulating GBA games exclusively, though the sticks were a little in the way, and overkill for its screensize.
So AYANEO adapted it and created a "Classic" version that removed the analogue sticks after much community feedback, and it perfected the device in a way that meant less is more. I still use mine on occasion as it's an incredible premium, truly portable device that feels great in the hand.
And in all honesty, I don't know how they can make this better, so when I saw the tease on AYANEO's X page that they were announcing a new Pocket Micro 2 soon, it took me by surprise.

This announcement was very subtle, and kinda came out of nowhere, even though we are all familiar with AYANEO's process of releasing more handhelds than we can keep up with, and comes shortly after the announcement of the IGS Edition of the Pocket Air Mini.
The Pocket Classic is a remarkable 3:2 retro handheld, and if you read our opinions on it in the past, there's not really anything we recommend doing to the device to make it better. It doesn't need more power, it doesn't need a bigger screen, it doesn't need bigger shoulder buttons, it's fine as it is.
AYANEO have now discontinued the original Pocket Micro and the Pocket Micro Classic from their website, too, which I'll admit, went under my radar. So it's clear that a new Pocket Micro 2 is coming, and they want customers to buy that instead. The only unit that you can buy is the Black Micro 8+256GB version, and I have no idea how long that will last or how many are in stock. I will keep you updated with more news. It's likely AYANEO will hold a livestream in the future showing it off, and we'll be watching to keep you informed.
