Atari 50 Holiday Content Update Adds 12 Additional Games For Free

Atari 50 Holiday Content Update

The incredible Atari 50 has just received an additional twelve games as part of the Holiday Content Update from developer Digital Eclipse.

We gave Atari 50 a glowing 9/10 in our review when it launched in November last year and praised the collections’ wonderful presentation and plethora of unlockable titles, in addition to several quality of life improvements.

Now, just over a year after its initial release, the Atari 50 Holiday Content Update brings a dozen more games to the compilation.

Atari had some fun in the lead up to the Atari 50 Holiday Content Update by teasing fans on social with emojis depicting several of the new titles.

I have to admit that I could only identify Double Dunk from Atari’s cryptic teases as my brain struggled to comprehend a game called ‘Diamond Corn’ for longer than was necessary.

The Atari 50 Holiday Content Update doesn’t signify the end of the impressive compilation either, with the developer Digital Eclipse teasing “more titles, more in-depth interviews, and more behind-the-scenes goodies” coming to the title in upcoming free updates.

The full list of the additional games being added to Atari 50 can be found below:

  • Adventure II – Atari 2600 Homebrew
  • Aquaventure – Atari 2600 Prototype
  • Bowling – Atari 2600
  • Circus Atari – Atari 2600
  • Double Dunk – Atari 2600
  • Maze Craze – Atari 2600
  • Miniature Golf – Atari 2600
  • MotoRodeo – Atari 2600
  • Return to Haunted House – Atari 2600 Homebrew
  • Save Mary – Atari 2600 Prototype
  • Super Football – Atari 2600
  • Warbirds – Atari Lynx

Perhaps my favourite of the new games added to the collection is Warbirds for the Atari Lynx.

For the uninitiated, Warbirds is a 16-bit dogfighting game where players battle it out in bi-planes across vibrant skies.

For fans looking for something to physically get their hands on away from the Atari 50 Holiday Update, the recently released Atari 2600+ might just be the thing for you! The new retro console sports excellent emulation quality and even plays original Atari 2600 cartridges.
