Super Mario 64 was one of the first games I ever completed on my very first console. I loved this game with a passion; seeing Mario in 3D for the first time after playing on SNES games at my uncle's house felt phenomenal. It's a game that the retro gaming community at large cherishes dearly, and it's also left me thinking about jumping into every painting I've seen ever since, which has led to some close encounters in art galleries!
I came across this painting posted by X user @MoonllitaArt and was blown away. They have managed to capture the magical essence of the Bob-omb Battlefield level in real life, and I wouldn't blame you for trying to throw yourself at your computer screen right now in a bid to race Koopa the Quick or fire yourself from a cannon.

MoonllitaArt's latest picture of a Skeeter from the picture of Wet-Dry World took me right back to the 90s and losing health to these little critters far too often. Just look at the detail on the water ripples around the Skeeter's feet, and the look of sadness in its eyes when it knows that I've found out how to defeat them and they can't deplete my health anymore (the struggle was real).
I love the Cool, Cool Mountain painting too - the little mitten on the snowman in the back always made me laugh, and the picture makes me feel a chill when I look at it. Although that could be because of the guilt of throwing the little penguin off the side of the cliff all those years ago... who knows.
It's always nice to look at our favourite retro games in a completely different medium yet still get those same feelings that they've evoked in us over the years. Moonllita does a fantastic job of bringing Super Mario 64 into the real world, and I would love to see more of their Super Mario 64 collection in the coming months!
