A few days ago, ANBERNIC revealed their all-new dual-screen device named the RG DS Plus, and it took the internet by storm; our X post reached over 1,500,000 retro gamers, all with shared opinions regarding its potential performance. Rumours state that it will feature the same chipset as the original RG DS, 1GB of RAM and perhaps even a price tag under $100.
Though that still remains unclear, as ANBERNIC has yet to state anything official on that, they have revealed a new YouTube video sharing over six minutes of gameplay footage, emulating a range of consoles from Nintendo DS to PSP, to SEGA Mega Drive using a new self- emulator called NNDDSS for Linux.
In the promotional video, ANBERNIC shows off the look of the Linux-based NNDDSS emulator, which is designed to make NDS performance on a Linux device incredibly fluid and to perform well on just 1GB of RAM. The video's NDS emulation does look good, but we all know that could be manipulated, so we'll only know just how well this performs when it's in reviewers' and the public's hands.
The UI of the NNDDSS emulator isn't going to win any awards, but it'll get the job done and organise your ROMs in an easy manner. When emulating single-screen games, it seems you can choose which screen you want to use, and the other will be replaced with an image of the console icon to show you what you are playing. If this were an Android device, you could use that other screen for searching the web, but again, we believe this is going to be a sub $100 dual-screen device that uses Linux, so that isn't likely here.
Though ANBERNC has stated you can turn on/off the second screen to save some battery life, should you choose that in the settings. There's also footage of streaming your Steam games and even proof of multiplayer using NetPlay, so there's a lot to see in this short video.
