It's always a little fishy when a game that hasn't actually been announced by the company behind it is gaining traction online, but that's where we find ourselves in relation to the news that a remake of Resident Evil Zero is on the cards for 2028.
So, where did this whisper first start? Well, last year saw a trusted voice in the Resident Evil leaking game, Dusk Golem, stating that Capcom would continue their R.E remake streak by adding the Dreamcast's Code Veronica and the GameCube's Resident Evil Zero into the mix.
So keep in mind the further out in time we get, the least certain things are. But as of this moment, their broad goal we're roughly looking at is:

RE9: Feb 27th, 2026
Code Veronica Remake: Q1 2027
Zero Remake: 2028
RE"10" (won't be called that): 2029, if all goes well in dev https://t.co/0kf0GSGhgp
Dusk Golem has stated recently that we'll be seeing the Code Veronica remake at the beginning of 2027, and the Zero remake will claw its way into our collections the year after. There are also multiple sources citing that Jon McLaren, the voice of Star Lord in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy game, will be taking part in the remake after the codename 'Project Chamber' appeared on his online resume, an entry that has since been taken down.
Project Chamber seems as though it could well be a nod to Rebecca Chambers, the protagonist of Resident Evil Zero. I guess that's as obvious as having a codename of 'Project Zero Remake' in all honesty, but I like Capcom's imagination with this one.
MP1st have also discovered through the removed resume entry that McLaren is working alongside Beyond Capture Studios on Project Chamber, the same studio that worked on the Resident Evil 4 remake.
There's a lot of chatter about the remake having beefed-up sequences that felt a little lacking in the original GameCube game, with many people getting excited about a bigger role for the train conductor in one of the most memorable parts of Zero's storyline.
But as Capcom are still ramping up marketing for Resident Evil Requiem and haven't even confirmed or denied whether we're getting a remake of Zero, I suppose we have to take this all with a pinch of salt now. I suppose we won't hear anything official till after the 30th anniversary of the series on March 22nd 2026, and if we do in fact get a remake of Code Veronica confirmed and coming first, then I may well track down Dusk Golem and give them a Retro Dodo medal for their service to the retro gaming community!
