Two New N64 Titles Perfect For Halloween Are Live On Nintendo Switch Online

Turok on the N64 and Shadowman on the Switch

While some people like to get into the spooky spirit by watching scary movies, I’ve always found playing dark and scary games to be the best way to get ready for Halloween. Admittedly I sometimes don’t sleep for a few days afterwards, but Luigi never sleeps in Luigi’s Mansion, and he’s definitely come out alright… kind of.

Well, if like me, you love to play games in the run-up to Halloween, then there are two new epic additions to the N64 Mature segment of Nintendo Switch Online for Expansion subscribers. They’re both from Acclaim, and they’re perfect for some jump-scares and gore to celebrate the most ghoulish and ghastly of holidays.

Turok 2: Seeds of Evil is probably one of my most-played N64 games of all time. I’ve got two copies of this game for some reason, which probably goes to show how obsessed I was with it as a kid. Multiplayer with my mates, the exciting single-player mode with updated control options that weren’t insanely hard to use (I’m looking at you, Turok 1!), and weapons that were completely (and quite literally) out of this world. Heck, the Cerebral Bore is still stuck in my mind today – figuratively, not literally – and my mates and I had so much fun tearing each other up, a fact that has somehow not lead to any of us needing therapy.

Shadow Man, however, is perhaps the best title other than Castlevania 64 that one could hope to play on Halloween. I mean, just look at the cover for crying out loud – it’s enough to chill your cup of tea straight out of the kettle! Heading into Deadside, battling Jack the Ripper – any game with an immortal voodoo warrior has to be played on Halloween, right?

Both games are available to play now, and I would advise turning the controls on Turok 2 from Expert to Arcade mode immediately before you start playing! If you haven’t downloaded the Mature channel on Nintendo Switch online yet and discovered Turok: Dinosaur Hunter or Perfect Dark on there, head to the Nintendo Shop to download it onto your Switch!
