Lunar Remastered Collection Confirmed For All Platforms In Spring 2025

Lunar Remastered Collection

Lunar fans watching the Sony State of Play have had their fingers crossed since the announcement of the remastered collection. A new collection of the classic game series, lovingly remastered for players to enjoy on modern hardware… but without a release date! That’s the kind of cruel trick that keeps us awake at night, staring at the ceiling plagued by thoughts of Goddesses and Dragonmasters. Well, thanks to an article over on Noisy Pixel, we now know that the collection will be heading our way in 2025.

The Lumar Remastered Collection is set to drop on all major consoles including Xbox One, Xbox Series X & S, PS4 & PS5, Steam, & Nintendo Switch. I’ve said collection a couple of times now without going into details; the new release includes Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete and Lunar 2: Eternal Blue Complete. The Silver Star is still the best-selling SEGA CD game ever made and a cult classic amongst retro gamers which makes this release even more exciting. It’s coming to us via GungHo Online Entertainment America, a company that some of you might remember worked with Limited Run Games for the fantastic Grandia Collection… which means you’ll have a short amount of time to buy it before it’s sold out for good!

From looking at the countless screenshots shared by GungHo America and the trailer above, you really get a sense of the bare bones of the game still being prevalent and unaltered with some quality-of-life features that, rather than changing the overall style and feel of Lunar, pave way for an enhanced version that supercharges the nostalgia factor all the way up to 11.

On the topic of nostalgia, players can either choose to play through the game with the remastered graphics or those of the original. Admittedly the cutscenes look incredible with the remastered graphics, but if you really want to be transported back to 1992 and the days of the SEGA CD, then the option is there! Players can speed up battles, work with new strategy features, and experience the game with all-new English voiceovers.

It’s nice to see something new from the Lunar camp, even if it is a remastered collection. Back in 2021, we covered a petition to make Lunar 3 a reality after the community became frustrated with Game Arts showing no interest in taking the series further. The petition link is no longer live, but it proves that the community has been longing for a trip back to Lunar for a long time, and I have a strong feeling that we’ll be playing through this on the PS5 and Switch in great detail here at Retro Dodo Towers. I’ll keep you posted with more information as well as any launch packages and bonuses if the game does release with LRG as and when we receive them!
