SEGA has revealed a new figure of Axel Stone from classic beat ’em up Streets Of Rage, in a partnership with JAKKS Pacific.

The news comes from the official SEGA Twitter account and is accompanied by several shots of Axel Stone in all of his JAKKS figure glory.

Sporting his trademark blue headband, red gloves, white t-shirt, and blue jeans ensemble, Axel is modeled after his appearance in the Streets of Rage 2 game for the SEGA Mega Drive in 1992.

The Axel action figure includes twenty-four points of articulation (officially more than I have first thing on a Thursday) and comes with a fiery Grand Uppercut Effect, allowing owners to pose Mr. Stone performing one of his most recognisable moves.

The new JAKKS Axel Stone figure is available exclusively from Wal-Mart stores when the former cop hits shelves in the next few weeks.

SEGA and JAKKS have previously partnered on a range of toys and action figures based on our favourite blue-blur Sonic The Hedgehog, including several figures based on the successful Sonic movies.

Of course, this new Axel Stone figure from JAKKS isn’t the first time the blonde brawler has appeared as an action figure.

Back in 2020, Storm Collectibles produced a 1/12 scale action figure for Axel Stone based on his appearance in the sublime Streets Of Rage 4.

Not ones to send a fighter to clean up the streets solo, Storm Collectibles have also produced a figure for Adam Hunter, Axel Stone’s fellow pugilist who also debuted in the original game.

Streets Of Rage is an iconic series that has delighted beat ’em up fans for generations, and its sequel, Streets Of Rage 2 confidently punched its way into our compendium of the greatest SEGA Genesis games.

During December’s The Game Awards, SEGA announced a new entry in the Streets Of Rage series alongside revivals of other classic franchises including Crazy Taxi and Golden Axe.
