Yes, you read that right; the team that has brought so many classic games back to the fold through the Evercade gaming platform is now working on one of my favourite N64 games ever made after announcing their move into 64-bit gaming!

The announcement came in the form of a YouTube clip announcing what Evercade is up to next, and now we’ve got 64 reasons to be incredibly excited about their new plans.

Glover is the first game to be announced publically via their announcement clip as part of the Piko Interactive Collection 4.

But the word ‘collection’ usually denotes a group of games, right?

Oh yes; as well as Glover, players will be able to get their hands on a physical cartridge that holds 7 other games including Street Racer, Star X Target, and Sküljagger: Revolt of the Westicans.

Can you imagine holding all of these games in a physical cart with some Evercade updates squeezed into them?

Enhancing A Classic

In true Evercade form, they couldn’t just sit by and bring Glover back to us without having a little tinker with the formula, and we’re very pleased about that.

Rebuilding the game from scratch has allowed Byteswap Labs to add some modern touches to the game to make it easier to handle and also allow for compatibility with Evercade devices.

Glover on the go – that sounds perfect to me!

This game made our list of the best N64 titles because it hardly left my console back in the day. It was clever, ingenious even, and now a whole new generation of gamers can revel in its glory alongside die-hard fans like me who will slot one in an Evercade and feel like I’m 8 years old again!

And, Evercade’s very own mascot Cadey makes a cameo appearance in the game too!

Grab A Bargain

The new Piko Interactive Collection 4 featuring Glover and seven other classic games is available to pre-order from February 29th, 2024 and will ship in April. It costs £17.99|$19.99|€19.99 which is nothing compared to how much Glover cost on the N64 back in the day!

The arrival of 64-bit gaming on the Evercade makes me wonder what other N64 games we might see next too. I would love to see titles like Holy Magic Century and Chameleon Twist making the cut, though I’ll have to keep my gloved fingers crossed and just wait to see what happens in the future.
