Sorry all you Pokemon Violet folks, but this guide is all about a Scarlet exclusive by the name of Deino.
A Dark/Dragon type, it’s a fierce Pokemon that can become a main player in your Party, provided you’re willing to put the effort in and level it up.
After all, there’s a reason its final evolution is classed as one of the best Dragon type Pokemon of all time – this dino is not to be messed with!
Of course, to get your hands on its evolution, you need to find Deino first. If you’re ready to follow me into the dark caves of Paldea we can begin.
Where To Catch Deino In Pokemon Scarlet & Violet
Deino frequents caves, and can be found at several locations on the map. However, one of the easiest locations to find one is in East Province (Area Three), by Zapapico.
If you head eastward at the beginning of the game (after leaving the Academy for the first time), you can get to Zapapico quite quickly.
But be warned, the Pokemon in that area are quite strong, meaning lower level trainers might struggle in battle.
Other locations you can catch Deino include:
- Alfornada Cavern
- Dalizapa Passage
- Glaseado Mountains
- North Province (Area Two)
How To Evolve Deino In Pokemon Scarlet & Violet
You can evolve Deino into Zweilous at Level 50, and then evolve Zweilous into Hydreigon at Level 64.
I know that sounds like a hard slog, but the results are worthwhile. Plus, if you get the x100 Rare Candy from the Pokemon Scarlet & Violet mystery gift codes, you’ll reach those levels in no time!
You can catch Zweilous in Pokemon Scarlet, however, it doesn’t spawn nearly as much as Deino.
If you want to try your luck, make sure to visit the northeast areas of Glaseado Mountain or Area Zero once you’ve finished the game.
As for Hydreigon, you would need to get extremely lucky during a Tera Raid, but that’s rare. Like, super rare. This means you’ll need to evolve a Pokemon one way or another.
So far, this guide has been heavily tailored to Pokemon Scarlet trainers. However, I haven’t forgotten about all you Pokemon Violet trainers – did you know you can get a Pokemon that bears a striking resemblance to Hydreigon? It’s called Iron Jugulis.
But, just like Hydreigon, it’s a rare Pokemon indeed.
Seeing as you’re collecting rare and/or exclusive Pokemon, you might like learning how to get Annihilape too? This evolution of Primeape is seriously strong, and isn’t located in the wild.
