This is why I love the retro gaming community. Out of nowhere, we get a fanmade game that acts as a sequel to both Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask in nostalgic N64 graphics, which I'm pretty sure will be playable on original hardware via a flash cart. It's a good time to be alive.

The Legend of Zelda: The Glass of Fate comes to us from Justice 2 Free, and there's a brand new reveal trailer for the fangame up on YouTube now. The project has been made using Godot, which for those not familiar with the term, is an open-source game engine that's free to use.
The trailer has a much darker feel to it than Ocarina of Time, which I like now that I'm older. The video tells us that darkness covered the land in the absence of a hero, but a message was sent into a distant land for the one who could save the world - the one who would be known as the cursed hero.

The main character does look a little like he has David Beckham's hair from the '90s and a slightly gormless expression (again, like Beckham in the '90s), but as it's a fan game and the creator doesn't want to get shopped by Nintendo, it's something I can live with. There's a strange king character who looks a little suspect too; he looks to be holding some sort of hat or tunic in his hands, which is pretty intriguing. Any chance to step back into the N64 Hyrule era is something I'll jump at, so I'm mega excited to see this game come to fruition.
The game is being released in chapters, with the first part coming in February 2027. Follow Justice 2 Free for more info!
