We need more people who don't give up when the going gets tough or when others would turn back in this world. Take KurtJMac, a YouTuber who has spent the past 14 years walking in the same direction on Minecraft to reach the part of the game that some thought was impossible - the Far Lands.

This makes me think about the programme Westworld and the outer areas of the park, though that didn't take 14 years to get to. Though like Westworld, the outer reaches of the game are fuelled with mystery. The Far Lands is a part of the game that players were never supposed to reach, but after a journey that's taken 12 million blocks, Kurt has reached the legendary area.

Kurt's journey has taken him 800 episodes to film and began back in March 2011. 800 episodes of walking in the same direction towards a place that, if the devs had had their way, wouldn't actually have been able to be explored at all.

If you haven't heard of the Far Lands, it's an area that can be best described as a bit like Missingno on Pokémon Red. It's an area that feels glitchy and unpredictable, a place where the game's algorithm begins to 'give up the ghost' so to speak, and blocks shift under your feet. It looks eerily impressive in Kurt's video above, and you can watch his latest episode in full to find out more about his journey and claiming the Far Lands for the Farlanders in October 2025!
