A surprising update is coming to Virtua Fighter 3tb from SEGA after over 25 years called “Virtua Fighter 3tb Online”.
Virtua Fighter 3 was released way back in 1996 for the Sega Model 3 system board. And needless to say, it was a massive hit in Japan.
This fan-favorite 3D fighting game was even ranked as the highest grossing arcade title in 1997.
Virtua Fighter 3tb was a 1997 updated version of the original game that introduced a team element. The titular “tb” stands for team battle, in case you didn’t know.
With the massive success of the franchise, which continues in arcade halls even to this day, it is no surprise to see Sega revisit one of the most beloved entries and finally give it the online mode it deserves.
Virtua Fighter 3tb Online
The new updates coming to Virtua Fighter 3tb will implement the same online battle system that is used for Virtua Fighter 5 arcade machines.
With the introduction of online battles, there will also be a new ranking landing page on SEGA.jp for online leaderboards.
SEGA has added a brand new arranged soundtrack to VF3tbO, intensifying the action and bringing it to modern day standards.
As a video game enthusiast who has lived in Japan for extended periods of time, I can tell you that arcade gaming is still very popular there.
And you can find arcade halls jam packed with regular players absolutely slaying their favorite games.
So it is no surprise to me that a title like VF3tb has gotten an update in 2023, because there are probably countless players eager to give it a go.
