BryantheBoi has been busy of late. With the world going crazy for the gen1recomp of Red, Blue, and Yellow and utilising the 3D Voxel mod from Dramatic Shape, it was only a matter of time before Gen 2 got a piece of the action, and he's delivered with a new version of gen1recomp that allows players to dive into Johto.
And yes, it has 3D voxel support, but as of this second, I've not found a 3D Mod that works with Pokémon Gold on my Mac. Still, playing Pokémon Gold natively on my Mac without having to kickstart an emulator, alongside support for Red, Blue, and Yellow, is mega cool!
As with the previous Recomp, you can change angles, colour palettes, and more using the number keys on your Mac. I wouldn't be surprised if Pokémon Silver is close behind, in all honesty, and then perhaps Crystal too! I would love to play that with Voxel Mod support!
The BoisClubGames Pokémon Gold is still in Beta mode, so you can expect some little bugs that will need ironing out over the coming days. Hopefully we'll get an easy 3D mod solution for Mac sometime soon too! Head to GitHub to get the latest update for gen1recomp for multiple platforms including Switch, Linux, and Android; you'll need your own legally acquired version of Pokémon Gold to get things up and running, and then you can start searching for Ho-oh!
