Listen, sometimes things don't need to have a full purpose to make them cool - they can just be cool in their own right. Do you need to turn your switch into a Wii U gamepad to get by on a daily basis? Probably not, but it's the ultimate homage to its predecessor, and we love it nonetheless.

I've discovered a method of turning your Nintendo Switch into a Wii U Gamepad that actually connects up to the console. It does away with the bulky, plastic pad that looked as though it was a Fisher Price toy and allows you to use your Switch or Switch Lite to control the action.

The program is called vanilla, and it requires a little bit of poking around to get it working, which I know many gamers will probably see and find too complicated. But, if you have a Switch 2 now and want to mess around with your OG Switch, then it's worth a play with. And as you can see in the video below, you can see the Switch up and running as your Gamepad, and it does work!

You can find instructions on how to make this magic happen and all the available files on yyoossk's Blogspot.
