TRIMUI Officially Reveals Brick Hammer Pro U & Brick Pro Handhelds

TRIMUI Officially Reveals Brick Hammer Pro U & Brick Pro Handhelds

TRIMUI has finally lifted the covers off the new Hammer Pro handheld after teasing it for a few months, alongside the reveal of an upgraded Brick Pro device. So they've been working on not one, but two new handhelds for retro gamers, which is great to see!

I'll admit, there's already a bunch of vertical handhelds on the market with this form factor, making me believe many retro handheld enthusiasts already have something that scratches that itch; however, TRIMUI know how to make incredible handhelds that last and look beautiful.

Today, TRIMUI revealed on their YouTube channel the Brick Hammer Pro U (that's a mouthful), a fully CNC-ed metal Android handheld with some hefty specifications, two hall-effect joysticks, ALPS action buttons, a 3.9" display, and replaceable shoulder buttons, designed just like the original TRIMUI Brick Hammer, thankfully.

TRIMUI Brick Pro U Specifications

  • 2.4GHz SnapDragon G2 Gen1 CPU
  • Adreno A21 GPU
  • 3.95" IPS Display (1024 x 768) @60Hz & 324 PPI
  • 6GB RAM
  • 128GB Storage
  • Android OS
  • WiFi & Bluetooth
  • Metal CNC-ed Body
  • Dual Hall-effect Joysticks
  • ALSP Action Buttons
  • Replaceable Shoulder Buttons
  • USB-C Video Output
  • 6-axis Gyroscope

This new Brick Hammer Pro U is a mighty device, likely able to emulate some PS2 games, which I know many have been waiting for, all wrapped in a beautiful metal body with modern-day buttons and features. It's worth noting that this device only comes in metal, which means it also comes with a bit more weight too. This is now TRIMUI's most powerful device on the market, likely their most expensive too. Pricing has yet to be announced.

It will come in three different metal variants: Black, Grey and Silver. No release date has been announced yet.

  • PowerVR GE8300 GPU
  • 3.95" IPS Display (1024 x 678) @60Hz & 324PPI
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8GB Internal Storage
  • Linux OS
  • WiFi & Bluetooth
  • Dual Hall-effect Joysticks
  • ALSP Action Buttons
  • Replaceable Shoulder Buttons
  • USB-C Video Output
  • 6-axis Gyroscope

This will be TRIMUI's affordable Hammer Pro, made of plastic, likely cheaper and lighter but still featuring an array of modern features such as the hall-effect joysticks, the same display, the same action buttons and the same shoulder buttons too.

I like that this also has a "Retro Grey" version, with subtle nostalgic nods to the original GAME BOY DMG alongside a black and white version that TIRMUI fans are familiar with. Specs-wise, it's the exact same as their old, smaller Brick Hammer, which means, from our review, it will be able to emulate up to and including PlayStation 1, Nintendo 64 and Dreamcast games.

The addition of the joysticks is nice, alongside the bigger screen, but I am not sure many will want to "upgrade" to this from the metal Brick Hammer they already have. It will be more likely that old customers jump to the Pro U, in my opinion, to take advantage of the spec bump. No release date or pricing has been announced for the Brick Hammer Pro.
