I know the PS1 had some amazing games, but each and every one of us loved Spyro the Dragon. For me, he was a great character who provided lots of fun in my childhood. For Sony, he was a cutesy answer to the likes of Kirby and Yoshi.

And now, thanks to TheUpsideDownBuilder, Spyro could well be the next LEGO Ideas set coming to shop shelves near you.

Like many of us, TheUpsideDownBuilder got Spyro the Dragon along with a PS1 back in the 90s. Spyro has been a huge part of their lives ever since, with the Reignited trilogy in 2018 rekindling (so many fire jokes here) our love for the purple peril all over again.

This build has tried to capture Spyro's playful and foolhardy nature. His expression is a little bit like he's found a couple of mushrooms that he should't have eaten while running through the forest, but I've gotta admit he looks fun and is instantly recognisable as the PS1 posterboy we know and love.

Spyro has a movable mouth, wings, and tail, so you can pose him in different positions. The attention to detail on his colouring is fantastic too; it actually looks like he has scales of different purple hues. And like me, the retro gaming community has instantly fallen in love with it.

As you know from other LEGO Ideas sets I've written about like this Chrono Trigger build, creators have 60 days to get 100 supporters. TheUpsideDownBuilder has achieved that in the first day and is now heading to the next milestone of 1,000k votes. Spryo already has 162 supporters and has 424 days to hit the next milestone, which we all know it's going to hit before the week is out.

If you want to see Spyro become a real LEGO set, then head over to the LEGO Ideas page and show your support for free! All we need now is Sparx to join the party too!
