Some of you might remember Brandon visiting Akihabara last year and checking out some of the best and most famous Retro Gaming shops that the area has to offer. Akihabara as a whole is Retro Gaming Valhalla, with shops crammed into every nook and cranny, including underground.

BEEP is a popular gaming store found at basement level, a huge sign pointing you down from the street into a whole world of incredible collectibles, rare games, and consoles that Brandon really had to stop himself from remortgaging his house for. It's one of those hidden nooks that is packed from floor to ceiling with things that make you feel like a kid in a candy store.

There are more stairs here than the ones at Cirith Ungol!

Unfortunately, BEEP is being forced to move, with the store taking to X to say that 'This is totally a secret, but I heard that we apparently have to move out because the building's getting demolished.'

It seems that other stores in Akihabara are having to move because of demolition too, but as many people are writing on the post, BEEP was one of their main reasons for traveling to Akihabara from across the world. The fact that they've stated that 'this is totally a secret' makes me think that they haven't actually been told properly yet, which is quite sad. This is someone's livelihood, after all.

I hope that some good can come from this, however. There are so many amazing products and slices of retro gaming history in BEEP, too many things to even consider not being available for people visiting Akihabara to visit. Will this mean that BEEP is able to move into a new space that's bigger, lighter, not as cramped? Will they even be able to find premises in Akihabara, or will they have to move further afield and not be a part of the strong sense of retro gaming culture? A building being demolished is never a nice thought, but when it's one that's full of so many amazing pieces as BEEP, it feels even worse.

Let's show BEEP some love by following them on X and their other socials so we can all keep up to date on their progress and find out what the next part of their chapter looks like!
